Weightloss Journey - Week 7

Week 7

May 14-20

Saturday I created a delicious new flavored protein shake Banana Chocolate Smoothie.

1/2 medium banana
5 ice cubes
8 ounces Coconut water
2 scoops of chocolate protein powder
Blend and enjoy!

I had two of those and grilled chicken with a tossed salad for dinner. I am finding that since starting the Protein shakes I do not need to snack throughout the day because I am starving. I can eat the small portions of nuts, cheese or yogurt for snack and be satisfied. My sugar levels are also more level. This day was spent outside with the kiddos enjoying the beautiful weather. We planted some seeds, played in the dirt, and went for a walk. Awesome day!

Sunday we were up, showered, powered up with shakes and breakfast and headed to church service in record time. I felt really energized and fully alert. It might have had something to do with my shakes! After service, we had dinner with family. While bbqing we got snow/rain/sleet/hail/sun and froze on. It was a wacky weather day.  My body was is agony! You know how you hear old men say, “My knee hurts, it is going to rain”. I used to think this was a joke but I am totally able to know when it is going to be cold and wet because my joints become sore and stiff. I was ready for this day to end the moment it began.

Monday had a slow start for me. My medication, heating pads, steaming hot shower and TENS unit did nothing to help ease my torturous body pains. I wanted to curl in bed and cry. Instead I made arrangements, set appointments, cared for kids and adulted like a champ. The hubs took over after his appointments and I went to bed early.

Tuesday was a long day. I was nervous for my impending dental surgery. I started my morning with what I call my Peanut Butter Shock-olate Shake.

Natural low fat peanut butter
8 ounces of strong black coffee
1 scoop Natural fiber powder (watermelon, apples, and beets in it)
2 scoops of chocolate protein powder
Blended and enjoyed!

I then went on to be mommy, secretary and house keeper. Having the kids ready to go to babysitter number 1 we ate lunch. We headed out for drop off number 1. As the kids enjoyed a visit with their aunt, I headed to get my dental work done. While waiting to be called in I was able to write up a rough draft of a post I am calling “The Untold Stories of Motherhood.” I finally get a few minutes to myself and I still do work! Once called in the nerves went up 10 fold. I ended up getting 4 front bottom teeth removed. The pain was not as I had anticipated because the bone had disintegrated extensively. The plan originally was to put pegs in the bone to have a bridge replace where my teeth were removed. Because the bone was beyond what they had thought, I will have a partial with a wire that wraps around my back teeth to hold them in instead. The teeth had to be removed to keep more of my bone from disintegrating. Now I have to see a dentist every 6 months to keep an eye on my jawbone.  After this was completed, I headed to pick up the kiddos to take them home and wait for babysitter number 2. The hubs had his Church softball game in the opposite direction so we passed without seeing each other. While I waited for the babysitter, I got ready for a friends calling hours. I put the kiddos dinner in the oven while I made what I call my Rejuvenator Shake.

2 Scoops French Vanilla Protein Powder
8 ounces Coconut Water
2 scoops Orange Electrolytes
Blend and enjoy!

I went to the calling hours and was home 2 hours later with a migraine! Everything was catching up to me. The night ended with the normal routine and this mom in exhausted agony.

Wednesday I woke up not sure how I was feeling. I drank my protein shake, took my medication for pain control and cleaned like a mad woman while the tears rolled down my face. My mouth pain was indescribable. In my body once, pain starts in one spot it spreads. I tried to keep moving so the pain did not consume me. I ended up taking more medication and taking a nap. When I woke up the intensity had subsided some. I had a protein shake before going to our church meeting. The day ended in complete exhaustion.

Thursday was a day of resting as the week had caught up to me and I was exhausted!

Friday we had an early start. My daughter decided that 4:30 am was her wake up and stay up time. We went to an activity event at the school. We walked around the schoolyard looking for flowers and leaves. We picked what we liked and took them back to the classroom where we made contact paper suncatchers.

Suncatchers

I can say I was able to keep up with the kids and was not tired out with all the walking. I was thankful that I had made my Rejuvenator Shake for breakfast. After we left the school, we came home and played outside in the beautiful weather while the hubs cleaned his garage. I was glad I did not have to help with that project. While the hubs went to an appointment I took my stepson to his mom for the weekend and the baby and I walked around Walmart for 2 hours while my car tires were balanced. For dinner, we made burritos with lots of lettuce and veggies on top. It was more of a salad with a side of burrito. My brother in-law was awesome and watched the baby while the hubs and I got to go watch an outside movie with friends. I am completely thankful that the hubs was thoughtful and brought my sleeping bag. It was damp and cool, I would have been in agony.

Warm Wishes to You and Yours

  2. Your shakes sound fabulous, it's great that you've included the recipes for them here!! I'm enjoying following your weight loss journey! It sounds like your pain has been a little up and down-it's interesting that you're affected by wet weather, and know when it's coming. But hopefully that's been manageable for you. I'll look forward to the next instalment!

  5. wow never tried these shakes but if they give you as much as a lift as you say then I think I should try them - I am certainly in need of a boost - instead of always reaching for the quick fix sugar high of chocolate! Love the way your husband looks after you! He sounds like a good'n! #triballove

  7. I don't have protein powder and I have minimal caffeine, but everything else sounds lush! I sometimes make a shake in the morning that really helps perk me up! It has a banana, cucumber, pressed apple juice, spinach and a teaspoon of wheatgrass powder - it tastes lovely :) #KCACOLS

    1. sounds delish. I use the protein powder because I am on a low carb high protein diet for my diabetes. The powder helps put back what I am lacking by drinking a shake for meals.

    1. I thought I would too. I find it much easier to drink the shakes and do what I need to. I struggle with having to eat 3 meals a day because I just do not have an appetite. Theses are great tasting and I can just drink not have to eat.
