Weightloss Journey - Week 10

9:55 AM

June 4 - 10

Saturday I spent the majority of the day push mowing the side and back yard. I started at 10 am and finished at 4 pm. The temperature was 89 and very humid. The heat and exercise wreaked havoc on my system. I worked so hard I threw up. I have NEVER worked that hard in my life. This caused my blood sugar levels to drop to 53 and again to 36. After each time of getting my levels to rise, I would work more on the mowing. When the mowing was finally completed, I literally crawled shaking to the house to get in a cold shower. After lowering my body temperature and eating to raise my sugars once again, I collapsed on the couch. This is where I spent the rest of the day.

Sunday I woke up feeling exhausted and drained. After church, I still felt drained; I did not want the feel like this all day so I began some front yard work. We got a tractor to scrape up all the sod to begin making my rock garden. We spent the day in the rain digging.

Monday I still felt drained. After eating a big breakfast and getting the kids set to play outside I began raking and working the dirt for the garden. I did not last long at this. I ended up in the house resting on the couch. My body could not function anymore.

Tuesday I woke up in excruciating pain! My arms were throbbing into my neck muscles. My leg muscles protested when I tried to move and my feet vibrated with painful needles. The sunburn I attained was the least of my discomforts. My day was spent with my TENS unit and hot showers to help relax the muscles. We watched the hubs play his softball game with a lot of discomfort. He troopered (I think I just made-up a new word) through as we froze on the sidelines. The cold made my body stiffen and hurt more. We came home late and put the kids to bed then took showers to loosen our painful joints. We slept hard.

Wednesday came refreshed. I used my glider to help loosen my tight muscles and joints. He did nothing out front. We spent the day playing with the kids and getting house chores caught up. I have to say I am very thankful that my husband will help with house chores and kiddo duty. We work well together and the other picks up the slack when the other in unable to do something.

Thursday was a day of more production. We dug up in front of our house. Instead of digging it up by hand, we used the tractor. The hubs found the wiring for the outside lamp in the middle of the front yard. He cut right through it with the tractors bucket. We turned off the electric to the house and capped the wires. After finishing this digging project, the hubs made a makeshift ramp for the night.

Friday we woke up to a mini moat in front of our house. There was a thunderstorm during the night, which made the work to come easier. I began making seed plots in the rock garden and framing them in with rocks. My husband is not sure if he likes the idea of a rock garden yet. I keep telling him he needs to wait until I am finished before he makes a decision.

This week I have pushed myself physically as never before. Before I became disabled, I was able to do so much more than I physically can now. There are days of frustration and self-pity that consume my whole being. I try so very hard to always be optimistic. However there are times when I’m in the midst of my body showing its limits that I just want to give in to the negative.

Warm Wishes to You and Yours
