Weightloss Journey - Week 4

12:33 PM

Week 3 (April 15-22) of this Journey was exhausting with so many non-routine parenting requirements. This week (April 22-29) was not as exhausting but it sure did bring on the burn and great news.

Friday morning was a light exercise morning as my daughter slept till 7:00 pm if you recall last week’s silent chair cheer. The rest of the day was filled with juggling parenting duties, crafting with the kids, appointments, and dropping of my step son to his mom for the weekend. We visited with family while my daughter showed off her car driving abilities with her toy cars. It was nice to decompress mentally and physically.

Saturday became a day spent with the hubs. A friend watched the baby so mommy and daddy could have some much needed time together… ALONE! We spent some time enjoying a sampling of their new flavors at a local winery. We enjoyed the quietness, unchild related conversation while sipping and munching on cheese and crackers. We then headed to a friends for a BBQ. The night was ended at home with our daughter watching movies and eating ice cream. This was the most relaxing day this mamma has had in a long time.

Sunday we decided we needed to work off the foods and wine from the day before. Instead of going to church, we crossed the border from New York to Pennsylvania. We spend three hours walking around a huge flea market. We found a few great deals on toys for the kids. We drove back to New York to pick up my stepson. Once home we rode our bicycles with the kids. The night ended with my legs being weak and wobbly.

Monday was a day of intense pain. My legs burned from all the walking and bike riding from the prior day. My fibromyalgia was in high gear. I spent most of the day with a Tens unit attached to me, medicated in my recliner, physically drained and miserable.

Tuesday my energy levels were nonexistent. I literally wanted to bathe in my coffee. We spent the majority of the morning and afternoon watching movies with the kids wrapped up in jammies and blankies. Before leaving for Physical Therapy, the hubs put up the barricade for the baby so I did not have to try to keep up with a runaway baby. Thankfully, the kids play very well together. Once the hubs returned home, I passed out for 4 hours. I was waked up by a small voice telling me it was dinnertime. The hubs did the night routines because I kept passing out from exhaustion.

Wednesday the kids and I took a leisurely stroll around the yard looking at the flowers that have bloomed. Still feeling sluggish, I decided against trying to lug on the stroller. I strapped my almost 18-pound baby into the front carrier and started walking around with her on my chest.  Bad decision! After five minutes, my shoulders began burning and my sciatica kicked in full force. That ended our walking and me doing anything but sitting on the couch with my TENS unit for the afternoon. Later in the evening, we arrived at church early so the hubs could fish. The kids and I walked around the yard (with stroller). My shoulders and back screaming in protest while my legs and feet joined in.

Thursday morning I did NOTHING! I barely rolled out of bed. Hot showers, heat pads and TENS unit did nothing to ease the knots in my back and shoulders. In the afternoon, I was dropped off at the doctor’s office for my and the baby’s appointments. The baby had a good appointment. My appointment was filled with good news. I have lost 5 pounds since seeing my Endocrinologist at the beginning of the month. For a total of 15 pounds lost. I am not changing my medications right now because I am tired of them being changed every three months and the results being the same. I ended the night by doing some gentle yoga ball stretches.

Friday (29th) I spent the morning doing yoga exercises trying to stretch out my muscles and un-stiffen. I dealt with low blood sugar levels all day. My legs burned and my hips throbbed from all the weeks work I did. I tried to be present with my family but I was too much in my head trying to keep the pain from over running my day. Miserable day.

This week was a long and burning week but knowing all this pain is having a positive affect I will keep working on me. However during the times of the pain and burning I question what I am doing to myself and struggle to do it all over again.
Warm Wishes to You and Yours

  3. I really felt for you reading this-you have so much motivation, but it must be so hard with your health problems which sound like they are really physically and mentally stretching you at the moment. Congratulations on losing the weight though-that must've been a huge bonus to what sounds like an incredibly trying week. Hopefully as you get used to the exercise, you won't feel such intense pain, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that that is the way it goes for you. You sound very positive, I will look forward to hearing what happens next! Thanks for sharing with #bigpinklink!

  5. You had me at kidless and wine tasting. It's hard to believe that it's been a month already since my hubby and I had a week's vacation while the kids stayed with grandma which she informed me would be the first and the last time. Good thing we got plenty of R&R. Thanks so much for linking up with #momsterslink.
